RETHINKING DESKTOP PHOTO DISPLAYS.
A collaborative project accomplished over 6 weeks in association with Umbra Limited.
We looked at various different aspects of life to draw inspiration. It ranged from gigantic architecture to miniscule touch-me-not leaves.
Initial Idea Generation
A quick post-it note sized idea generation session helped spark ideas and concepts which may lead to something bigger.
After a quick idea generation session, the team did a quick pin up session and discussed the pros and cons of all the ideas. This segued into the concept development stage. (Partner Lucas in the image on right)
Sketch Model Refinement
The team created multiple size iterations of the cylinders and also decided to fit them one within the other, like Matryoshka dolls, to reduce packing space and increase utility. The final dimensions chosen were a middle ground between the the two images shown above.
CAD and Colourways
Using a combination of Solidworks and Keyshot, a digital 3D model was created. For the colourways, we chose to stay true to Umbra's brand language of using white with another colour or material.
